Shacquille O’Neal Wants to Flip the Script on Inclusion in Advertising

1 min read

NBA legend Shacquille O’Neal is using his celebrity status to help improve the dismal performance of the advertising and marketing industry relative to equity and inclusion. O’Neal has formed a new advertising agency with Omid  Farhang called Majority.  O’Neal, in his outspoken manner, takes the advertising industry to task for its lack of diversity with a less than 25% minority inclusion rate–the industry’s dirty little secret.  The Wall Street Journal reports that O’Neal wants to “flip that diversity ratio to turn the minority into the majority.”

The agency plans to hire a diverse pool of talent defined by “black and brown people, women and LGBTQ,” according to Farhang, co-founder and chief executive of Majority.
